Wood Machine Operator

Allen Organ is looking for an experienced machine operator to run industrial wood working machines in the organ building manufacturing process. These machines include but are not limited to: Surfacer, Planer, Rip-saw, and Jointer. The position is first shift, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Position Requirements:

  • Possess basic math skills including use of fractions and the ability to read measuring devices such as tapes and calipers.
  • Will be required to set up machinery for various product runs.
  • Strict adherence to shop safety regulations is required.
  • Must be capable of working to high degree of accuracy.
  • The job is performed in a noisy and dusty environment. Eye and hearing protection are required.
  • Required: ability to stand, bend, and reach with arms during shift and possess good visual acuity.
  • Must be able to lift to 35lbs. frequently up to 50lbs. occasionally.

Cabinet Maker

Allen Organ Company is looking for a skilled cabinetmaker to produce fine furniture quality musical instruments on first shift. Must possess attention to detail while building wooden organ consoles.

The experienced cabinetmaker sets up and operates a variety of woodworking machines such as a jointer and uses various hand tools to fabricate organ consoles and various sub-assemblies: studies blueprints or drawings and plans sequence of cutting or shaping operations to be performed.

Skills required include the following:

  • Matches materials for wood species, color, grain, and texture.
  • Sets up and operates woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointer, planer and shaper, to cut and shape parts from wood stock.
  • Trims component parts of joints to ensure snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
  • Bores holes for insertion of screws or dowels by hand or using boring machine.
  • Glues, fits, and clamps parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps or clamping machine.
  • Drives screws or other fasteners into joints at designated places to reinforce joints.
  • Sands and scrapes surfaces and joints of articles to prepare articles for finishing.
  • May repair high-grade articles of furniture.
  • May install hardware, such as hinges, catches, and drawer pulls.
  • Experienced in working with solid woods and veneers is required.

Physical requirements:

  • Must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours during shift. Occasional bending and kneeling required.
  • Must have the ability to regularly lift up to 35 lbs. and occasional heavy lifting of up to 100 lbs. utilizing a team lift.
  • Use of arms to work with hand tools and machinery.
  • Good visual acuity is required.

Finisher/Sprayer

Allen Organ Company has an opening for a sprayer in our finishing department.

The right candidate will have:

  • Some knowledge of spraying finish on wood products using a spray gun.
  • Experience with spraying, staining, glazing, sanding, and seal coating.
  • Familiarity with finishing equipment and tools, including spray systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of various wood types, paints, stains, varnishes, and coatings.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high quality results.
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols and regulations related to finishing materials and equipment.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift-up to 30 lbs. and heavier items utilizing a team lift.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors including color shading in the work environment.
  • Must be capable of working in a work environment with odor or smells.
  • Use hands to operate spraying equipment.
  • Standing during 8-hour shift with some bending and reaching.

Experience:

  • Some experience in finishing/spraying required.

Allen Organ Company, the world's largest builder of digital organs, is looking to expand its sales and marketing team at the Macungie, PA facility. Responsibilities include:

  • Represent Allen Organ Company's products professionally
  • Assist worldwide dealer network with sales, installation and technical issue resolution
  • Provide customer service related to user operation including MIDI products, legacy technology, in-field troubleshooting, and other tasks

CNC Wood Machine Operator

Allen Organ Company has an opening for an experienced CNC Machine Operator in its Wood Machine Shop producing wood parts for organ manufacturing.

Job duties include:

  • Operation of the Thermwood CNC machine according to specifications for wood parts.
  • Setting up jobs using existing computer programs.
  • Checking for part specifications/measurement at set intervals during shift.
  • Reporting any deviations to specs of machined parts to supervisor immediately.
  • Occasional operation of hand-held routers and other shop tools is also required.

Operating the CNC in this department requires:

  • Competently operating the machine as trained or instructed.
  • Possess basic computer experience and the ability to read a ruler and use calipers.
  • Requires basic math skills and the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy.

Physical Requirements:

  • During 8-hour shift: stand, bend, kneel, lift while reaching.
  • Pushing or pulling when changing tooling is required.
  • Lifting: occasional up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use hands/arms to operate smaller wood working tools.
  • Good visual acuity to measure and examine machined parts.
