ALLEN ORGAN INSTALLATIONS

First Baptist Church installed a two manual Allen organ. Located 14 miles off shore, First Baptist is situated on a hill behind the downtown area and is highly visible as tourists approach the island. The organ is housed (along with a recently acquired grand piano) in a 30 by 40-foot sanctuary that was added to the main building. The main building was originally a guesthouse. The instrument, which replaced an old Hammond, has had a dramatic impact as accompaniment to the congregation, choir and soloists. It has allowed organist Carrie Todd to effectively play a much wider range of organ literature. Ms. Todd, who teaches many private piano students, also accompanies the community chorus. She has already started planning to introduce the organ to students.
