ALLEN ORGAN INSTALLATIONS

Mathewson Street United Methodist Church, Providence, Rhode Island
Combination Pipe and Digital Instrument

An Allen four-manual organ with String Division was installed in the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church in Providence, Rhode Island. This large, versatile instrument with 638 keying devices was manufactured in the company's factory in Macungie, Pennsylvania, and was installed in the church under the supervision of music director David C. Morse. Mr. Morse, a noted concert artist, conductor and lecturer. The speakers are installed in the reredos screen at the front of the church for maximum projection, with a full "string" division speaking from the dome. The church's original organ was almost completely destroyed by a water leak during the flood of 1999. Eleven ranks of the surviving pipe instrument will be combined with the 138 digital stops resulting in a magnificent organ to serve this very active congregation.
