ALLEN ORGAN INSTALLATIONS

Allen Organ Company, with the assistance of Chopin Music (Allen's representative for Lagos) installed a four-manual, 79 stop instrument in Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, Nigeria. The Cathedral is home to His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okogie, Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, as well as its Administrator and Priest, Reverend Father Julius Olaitan.

Located on the Southern coast of Nigeria in western Africa, Lagos is known for its large amount of commerce. Holy Cross is a large, downtown parish in this city of over 10,000,000 people.

The Allen main organ speaks from an area high above the Cathedral floor and from behind the reredos wall. The organ also provides a full antiphonal complement that speaks from the Cathedral's gallery. This allows all of the organ's divisions to speak from either or both ends of the nave.

The dedication for the Allen organ at Holy Cross Cathedral was held on the 11th of December, 2005. The ceremony was conducted by His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Okogie, with the assistance of Reverend Father Julius Olaitan.
