The First Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs dedicated their new pipe/digital Allen Organ with a concert by Tom Hazleton.
The organ is a 58-stop Three-Manual Quantum with digital voices and custom pipe work. It includes an exposed Great consisting of
Principal 8', 4', 2' and Harmonic Flute 8' and 4'.
The church was blessed with a donation from a family who wanted the church to have a pipe organ. A committee was formed to research the possibilities and considered five organ builders. After numerous proposals and considerations, they chose Allen Organ Company as their builder, represented by Dollarhide's Music of Pensacola, Florida.
The church made significant changes to the sanctuary to accommodate the new organ. Antiphonal chambers were added in the back of the
church and aesthetic and structural changes were made in the choir and organ areas. The pipes were designed and placed in a pleasing
arrangement that complements the sanctuary, both visually and tonally. The finished result is an organ that remained within their budget
goals, but exceeds their expectations in beauty and range of use.
