Dr. Ted Montgomery recently installed a new 87-Stop Four-Manual Allen Organ in his home. It is the fourth organ in Dr. Montgomery's home, replacing a small pipe organ, and is his third Allen. His home is an outstanding example of Country French architecture. Since the only doors large enough to allow passage of the organ console were in the dining room, it was necessary to "fly" the console up and over the house from the street below-"The Flying Organ!" Above the main room's fireplace and conversation area is a suspended library, where the organ's main audio systems are located. The audio system of the floating E. M. Skinner String Organ is installed in a room adjoining the library, making the effect of the String Organ drifting in truly remarkable.
Dr. Montgomery is very active in music and organ circles of the Bay Area and has been most gracious in sharing this outstanding installation with others.
