Greetings from Macungie!

As we prepare this issue of e-notes, the September weather is glorious, with crystal-clear skies and the first crisp mornings of the season. A few trees have even started to change from dark green to more vibrant hues reminding us that summer is drawing to a close and that shorter days and colder nights are on the way. To everything there is a season!

Life has its seasons as well and we are saddened to note that this summer a dear friend, Carlo Curley, reached the end of his final season on earth. We remember him fondly and are thankful for the ways in which he and his music enriched our lives. You will find a sample of his artistry among the music downloads included here.

This issue of e-notes also features a number of recent Allen installations spanning the continent of Africa from Dakar to Bloemfontein. These join a long list of Allen installations in notable African locations, among them the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro, the world's largest church. We hope you enjoy these glimpses into far-away and exotic locales that have chosen Allen organs to meet their musical needs.

While it's a well-known fact that Allen organs are installed in all parts of the world, we are still humbled when we are reminded that, in thousands of places, millions of people are inspired by the sound of Allen instruments.

Best Regards,
Barry Holben

Allen Page Turn

At the 2012 Sales Seminar Allen introduced a new organ option called "Allen Page Turn" that enables organists to control music scores on an Apple iPad using apps such as forScore. The Allen Page Turn enables forward or backward page turns of the music without the organist needing to touch the iPad. This greatly increases the utility of an iPad for music reading.

Page Turn can also be retrofitted to many Allen Organs. Two different versions are available; one with toe stud controls and another with piston button controls. Each version also includes the Air Turn device and power supply, iPad synchronization button and internal cabling (iPad not included). Contact your Allen dealer for additional information and pricing, or call 610-966-2202.

iPad is a product of Apple Inc.
forScore is a product of MGS Development

Cathedral of Dakar
in Senegal, Africa

Allen Elite™ Opus VIII, a four-manual, 69 stop instrument was installed within the Cathedral of Dakar late in July just prior to the Cathedral's Jubilee Celebration.

The console features a walnut exterior with a curly maple interior and was 'Tropicalized' to help withstand the environmental conditions in Senagal, West Africa. The console also contains a dual TV monitor & camera system with a custom enclosure finished to match the elegance of the instrument. A European Pedalboard with stained rosewood sharps and maple naturals was also integrated. This Elite™ has a dedicated Trompette en Chamade manual and hosts a 42 channel custom audio system. The facade was custom constructed by a French company.

This Allen organ was hand selected by the Commission in Dakar and Cardinal Théodore-Adrien Sarr as part of their 2012 Cathedral Jubilee Celebration.
