With The Mainstreet Brass and George Boyer, Organist
Like eggnog and nutmeg, evergreen bows and a model train circling the nativity scene under the Christmas tree, brass, organ and Christmas are an inseparable combination.
All of us in the Mainstreet Brass are thankful to organist George Boyer and Allen Organ Company for producing this recording, which represents some of the Christmas favorites we've enjoyed since we first got together in November 1986. We've always looked forward to the busy holiday season to bring out these carols and perform them in concert, at festivals and in church.
We're privileged to bring you this collection of Christmas favorites for brass, organ and organ and brass. On behalf of everyone in the Mainstreet Brass and the staff at Allen Organ, we hope you enjoy this recording and make it part of your Christmas tradition.

George Wright Signature Four-Manual
Dwight Beacham, Organist
The Organ
For years, theatre organ enthusiasts have revered George Wright's studio organ as the ultimate recording instrument. Now, the sounds of this incredible instrument are contained in this 4-manual, 33-rank George Wright Signature Organ.
Dwight Beacham worked closely with George Wright in designing this exciting instrument filled with digital samples taken from his own Hollywood Philharmonic Recording Organ. George wanted to leave a legacy in sound for future generations and he realized that the Allen Organ Company was the logical choice. This instrument is not only the world's first theatre organ to utilize Allen's revolutionary Renaissance™ technology, but the first to replicate an existing pipe organ. Renaissance™ brings a new world of realism to digital organs.
Only one instrument combines the future of organ building with the samples and voicing of the legendary George Wright.
The Music
As a longtime fan of George Wright's, it is no surprise to find Dwight using many of George's musical mannerisms on this album. The opening tune, I Know That You Know, is based on two recorded versions that George Wright recorded, with a bit of Dwight's additions. All the music was chosen to show off the organ's spectacular sound.
The Recording
This recording was made in a 22' x 24' "test" room at the Allen Organ Company in Macungie, PA. No acoustic enhancement was used in post recording processing. Allen's exclusive Virtual Acoustic™ system was used during the recording.

Philip Hahn, Organist
In 1961 St. John's Episcopal Church was blessed by the gift of an Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ. The tonal design consisted of 28 ranks of pipes controlled by 34 stops. In 1995 an Allen MDS Expander II was added, which made available a variety of tonal colors to the organ. In the summer of 2001 a new Allen Renaissance™ three-manual console was installed, resulting in an extraordinary pipe/digital combination instrument with a total of 97 stops.
The late Dr. Philip Hahn was Organist/Director of Music at St. John's Episcopal Church and was the Executive Director of the Friends of Music, the church's concert series. He also served as national President of the American Guild of Organists, a professional association of over 22,000 members. He performed concerts extensively in both the United States and Europe. Dr. Hahn held Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at American Conservatory in Chicago with a double major in organ performance and composition. Further study was taken in France with certificates in organ performance, solfeggio, and composition from the Conservatoire Americain in Fontainebleau.

George Wright playing the Allen GW4
This is truly an historic recording. With Allen's sampling of George Wright's "Hollywood Philharmonic Organ" the GW4 has become the digital archive of that instrument. When the "HPO" was designed it was fitted with a reproducing system that stored every note, stop, and expression change played by Mr. Wright and made it possible to play back the full organ at any time. Through the use of those original player files BANDA has released a new CD of George Wright playing on a GW4. Many of the selections have never been released before.
