The Bishop of Charleston presided over an Organ Dedication Mass, with more than 25 priests from local
parishes and 900 guests in attendance. The instrument is an Allen 80 Stop Three-Manual Console with
French voicing; It performed beautifully.
The peak in the sanctuary is about five stories high. An acoustic engineer was engaged for the interior design that includes: all tile floors, walls with all hard surfaces, a ceiling above the altar area made of tongue and groove construction; a nave with wood boards, with spaces in between-all working together to make the sanctuary's acoustics a wonder to behold. Other details built into the walls control and enhance the sound projection.
The church's transepts are huge by today's standards. The building is also prepared for antiphonal speakers in the back and support speakers in the transepts.
