Allen Theatre Organ
Ian Eadie, President of the Tasmanian Theatre Organ Society, lives just outside Hobart in Lower Longley, a picturesque town surrounded by mountains and magnificent scenery. Mr. Eadie desired a quality instrument on which to play the organ music he loves and actively promotes. The Allen Theatre Organ was installed by Leith Ewert, Allen Dealer for Southern States Australia, and Peter Allen, both representing Prestige Pianos & Organs, Preston, Victoria.
After packing the organ carefully in their delivery truck, they boarded the cruise-ship/ferry Spirit of Tasmania for an overnight sail from Melbourne, Victoria to Devonport, Tasmania. Some twelve hours later they arrived at Devonport... on the opposite side of Tasmania from Lower Longley! They drove across Tasmania for four hours to get to Lower Longley and immediately proceeded to install the organ.
Upon completion of the installation they drove back to the Devonport area, rested a bit in a local motel, and boarded the Spirit of Tasmania for the return voyage to Melbourne.
A big trip for a one-day installation. However it was well worth it to gain another happy Allen customer!
