First Presbyterian installed a state-of-the-art, custom Diane Bish Signature Series organ with 70 stops and a 100-voice MIDI division-with voices from chimes to festival trumpets.
The previous tracker organ had been troublesome for many years, and numerous repairs have been unsuccessful. Ciphering (when a pipe plays all of the time), dead notes, and mechanical problems continuously plagued the organ, and atmospheric self-regulation was impossible. The musical bottom line was that the organ was rarely in tune and piano and organ duets suffered. The cost bottom line for a rebuilt pipe organ was even more distressing.
