Allen Organ Company Factory Tour
Surface Mount Technology
For circuit boards that require greater component density, Allen employs surface mount technology (SMT). With SMT, near-microscopic components are robotically placed on a thin layer of mastic on the board's surface. The positioning of these components is verified through magnified video monitoring and laser guidance. After the components are in place, the board passes through an oven, which cures the mastic.
Allen's Electronic Assembly "clean room" utilizes the latest environmentally friendly
processes. Allen became RoHS compliant in 2006. Often referred to as "lead-free" these regulations eliminate certain
hazardous materials from products that could negatively impact the environment. To meet these RoHS regulations, Allen
added substantial equipment including new surface mount and wave solder machinery.
