An Allen four-manual Renaissance™ with 70 stops and 22 Second Voices now graces the sanctuary of the Anglican
Cathedral Church of St. John the Evangelist located on Garden Road in Hong Kong. With a large congregation and many musical
activities throughout the year, the Cathedral was in need of an instrument to properly accompany the choir and also provide
recitalists with a greater variety of sounds. The Renaissance installation meets their needs perfectly. A team of
engineers and specialists, including personnel from Allen's Macungie, Pennsylvania home, carefully installed and voiced the
organ. The adjustable organ bench was a gift from the Cathedral Choir, while the purchase and installation of the organ
and speakers was the gift of several congregation members. The organ was blessed at a special service by the Archbishop, the
Most Reverend Peter Kwong Kong-kit, which included its dedication in the memory of Bishop R. O. Hall. Mrs. Cecilia Kwok,
Organist Emerita fo the Cathedral, ceremoniously began the organ's service to the Cathedral by cutting a ribbon wrapped around
it. The service was followed by a recital by teacher, conductor and composer David Cooper, formerly an examiner for the
Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Visiting Tutor of Organ at the University College of Ripon and York, St.
John. The recital included a range of music from various composers of different centuries which thoroughly demonstrated the
instrument's astounding capabilities.
