Latest News From Allen

We are pleased to introduce readers to a new Allen e-notes feature, entitled "Catch a Rising Star" which we hope will become a regular feature in future e-notes editions.

"Catch a Rising Star" will feature video or audio clips of talented young individuals who show the potential to become tomorrow's leading organists. Featured as this month's Rising Star is Michael Bennett of North Carolina. Michael came to our attention through Peter Richard Conte, Grand Court Organist of the Wanamaker Organ at the Macy's Philadelphia department store, with whom Michael studies. Michael began his study of the organ less than two years ago.

The son of Kelly Harris Bennett and Bruce Bennett, Michael recently won 1st place in the Music Teachers National Association Junior Composition Competition. In addition to organ, this extraordinary home-schooled 6th grader, who started his studies on violin, now studies musical composition and piano.

The link below shows Michael performing the last movement of Suite Gothique by Boellman. We think you'll agree that Michael is on the future major talent radar screen!

If you know someone who you think should be an E-notes "Rising Star", please send a DVD video or audio CD of their performance to:

Allen Elite Opus VII Makes the News-Again!

Mr. Kelly Wheelbarger, organist at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Roanoke Virginia, was recently interviewed about the church's newly installed Allen Elite organ. His comments make a great argument for buying an Elite organ instead of a pipe organ. A link to the article follows:
